1. It is extremely windy out there! If you think of extremely windy as in a light breeze on your face – you are totally wrong. The wind is so strong, that sometimes it is hard to move or even close your car doors! We would recommend thinking of windproof clothing!
2. It is quite cold out there in Iceland! So better prepare some good winter clothing with you to wear on top of the windproof clothing. The most fun about this country is that the weather keeps changing literally every 5 minutes and you might not recognize the same place 5 minutes from now! Luckily the people there are not afraid of little snow, everything keeps operating (like airports) and the roads are still open!
3. Northern lights or Auroras are of course everyone’s priority, when going to Iceland in winter, but you have to prepare yourself not to be too disappointed if you don’t see them.
Remember it is nature and you can’t get any tour guides that will show them to you if the weather conditions are not good enough! The best time of the year to see them could be: January, March, but once again - it is nature. Fortunately Iceland offers a lot of impressive things to see!
4. Go for a warm dip in natural hot springs! It is an amazing feeling after a cold day to finish it by warming up your body in a nice hot pool. Especially romantic if it snows!
5. Have some soup! This will help you to have a nice warm feeling if you don’t visit hot springs! :) Our favorite - The mushroom soup.
